The next team that faces our conquest is Benfica Lisbon. Benfica it's a team well known to us and I think that it is proper time for retaliation. The first match will be played at Lisbon on 14th/15th February and the second on 23rd February 2007. We are confident that winter will be a good advisor and our team will rock the UEFA CUP.
Ashtray
We'll have lots of time for discussions...we'll have to wait and see the transfers that will be made by both of the teams before we can answer the question in the poll
Kity_reddog
i'm not realy hapy with this draw but seeing steOAIA's 'luck' I realise that there is a big diference betwen the two teams and I remeber that benfica is not in the same category as value with sevilla.if rednic along with the board will take a good care of the team in this long break we have a lot o chances to go forward in the competition...

radu!....take it as an elegant retort

Hi from Lisbon!

I didnīt understood most of the posts in the forum, but i could see that you guys are feeling over confident.

Hopeffully in 2 months all of that confidence will get out of uefa.

How many of supporters are coming to lisbon?

Best regards

radu_reddogforever
Benfica is definately a very hard team to beat especially in Portugal. But our advantage is that we play the second leg home, and if the stadium will be full like the game with Bayer Leverkusen I think we can win the game in Bucharest. Hopefully, with a good result in Lisbon we will qualify (I hope I am not too optimistic)
bianco_rossa
in february will probably snow and be cold....and usually we have some supporters(not like the stadium is full or something like that, but it isn't empty eather), maybe half of it's capacity...but when we have an important mach, like this one, i can assure you that it's gonna be a full stadium, and a explosive atmosphere.
Both team must be well prepared and take the mach as serious as they can.....everything can happen in that day....we may be the best romanian team at this time, but if we catch a bad day...or if the players mind is somewhere else...it's noy good all all
we'll live and see it HAITA_DINAMO.gif

NNslbNN I have a few questions , if you don't mind .

- you have a couple of excelent players ... Nuno Gomes , Simao , Rui Costa and Miccoli .. which of them is in the best form at the moment ?

- which of the competitions you are engaged in is the most important for you ? the national league or the uefa cup (please don't say both) ...

- do you think the 'da luz ' will be at full capacity at our away fixture ?

- how many of your fans will be travelling to Bucharest ?

- do you remember the matches we played against you guys in '99 ?

Simão is in top forma now, he was just elected player of the month in the league...so i hope he stays like this...Nuno Gomes is missing a lot of chances...Fabrizio Miccoli is unpredictable...he had some injuries but in Feb he should be ok...Rui Costa returns from injury in January

Well i would like to say that is the Bwin League, but we are a bit far away from F.c.Porto(pigs) and the way they are playing at the moment it looks dificult...so we have the Portuguese Cup and for sure the UEFA CUP is the main target...

QUOTE(Tudor @ 16 Dec 2006, 0:55) *

It depends how the team is performing...last year we played Liverpool and the tickets sold out in a couple of hours...Ok Dinamo is not Liverpool or Barcelona icon_twisted.gif ...but 40 000 to 50 000 for sure

Usually we dont travel with a lot of fans but to Manchester went 2000...to Barcelona 5000...to Liverpool 2500...but in bucharest expect 500 or so...i really canīt tell.

on a scale from 1 to 10 where do u place benfica and where do you place Dinamo?
Haita
Cumprimentos aos adeptos de Benfica. Tudo bom?

Benfica is heavily favourite in this double leg. You have an experienced team, plus your team will be at full steam since your championship does not stop during winter time. Historically, Benfica was never eliminated in European competitions by a Romanian team. However, Dinamo is the only Romanian team that was able to win against Benfica.

For Dinamo to qualify will be a big achievement. Not sure if we have the means to do that. At least not for now. Our team is young and unxperienced. Mircea Rednic, our coach, has assembled this team only 5 months ago. So, you can imagine that he has still ways to go in order to improve our team's performance.

What's the starting line-up for Benfica? When is allowed in Portugal to trade players?

Iīm sorry but i really dont now a lot about Dinamo...itīs kind of harsh to make such a judgement right now...

I know you are top of the league with a large diference of points to the 2nd...that your president paid your coach half of the prize for winning the Champ icon_lol.gif

And your team is very strong in home matches.

When I was a boy, in February used to be very cold, below -10 C, , but that was many, many years ago. However, those days, with all the climate change, I think the weather is very unpredictable. Hard to say.

Our stadium is small (15 000 seats) and has running pitch for athletic events, so it does not get as "terrible" as our "red dogs" fans would like to be. However, in UEFA Cup, playing against Benfica you should expect nothing less then a full capacity.
In the past, we played some of our international games at the national stadium (60 000 seats) however it's unlikely that to happend since our players prefer to play on Dinamo's stadium. The final call is going to be made by the management who might like to play on a bigger stadium= more tickets sold= more money for the club.

Since your memmories of Benfica's double leg with MU in UCL are still fresh, something to remind you of that, our game in Bucharest (at national stadium) against MU in UCL: football.gif

Our respects for you honoring the memmory of Miklos. We know exactly how that must felt for the Benfica fans and players. We suffered a similar loss, when our captain, Catalin Hildan (he was the captain in game against Benfica in 2000) died on the field during a friendly game, and his last clothing was the Dinamo's jersey. Catalin became our symbol!

Last weekend we won 3-0...lousy first half better display in the second, we are getting better.

Excelent news! Rui Costa is back in training with ball, so is Miccoli...Manuel Fernandes(also known as Manelele...very though in defense, with a fierce shot, a mix of Makelele with Lampard) is coming back from loan at Portsmouth...hopefully heīll stay with us...probably our only winter signing.

No name boy, I like your stadium a lot, I respect and like all your ultras activity but you're going down in february. We know how to defend and counteratack and that will be the game on Da Luz played by our team.Lucky for us the first game is there and we will get a good result, you'll see.Benfica is a tehnical team and we will defend, so your strikers wont be able to pass our defense. And in Bucharest be sure to witness the real hell diablo.gif diablo.gif brought to you live by Nuova Guardia and our football players

Since I was asked to tell some good stories about Dinamo's history, here is my shot at it:

1) Dinamo - the first Romanian team to participate in the Europes' Champions Cup (now days UEFA Champions League). Happend in 1956 and it was the first game live of Dinamo I saw as a kid. (those days there was no TV and of course not INTERNET). Dinamo played the champions of Turkey, Galatasaray, which we beat 3-1. The football it was different then, played with 4-5 strikers, it was a total show. I recall that Dinamo had somewhere around 40 or 50 shots towards goal that game. That one of the debut games of Nelu Nunweiller (one legendary player for us) that gave us the nick name Red Dogs.

2) Another game that I remember, it is the defeat in Bucharest 2-1 of the great Inter. They were the champions of Europe and had that famous team coached by Helenio Herrara, with Pichi, Mazzolla, Facchetti, Suarez.. Our team has few famous players for Romania, one of them Parcalab, called the "Arrow of Carpathians" was probably one of the best wing in the world.

3) One of my fav. stories is about the Romanian National team game in the 1969 against Portugal for the qualification at the WC in Mexic 70. Both Romanian and Portugal needed to win that game and Romania actually did 1-0. For Portugal was playing Eusebio and for Romania 5 Dinamo players: Deleanu, Dinu (our current technical director), Radu Nunweiller, Lucescu (famous coach in Europe now) and Dumitrache (probably one of the most talend players in the world).

Dumitrache against Bobby Charlton in Mexico:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C69qwuKWqgE

4) Rest of games and events just history in Europe Champions Cup : beat Real at Bucharest in 75, Atletico in 77, Eintracht 79, eliminated Inter in early 81, reach the semi-final in 84 and Cup Holders semifinal in 1990, eliminated Sporting in 1991, or that for the past 5 year we are undefeated on our home-field in European games ...
red_dog_rahova
Santa Claus will give us two victories with Benfica........He promiss me that.... drink.gif beer.gif

For portugal fans......Marry Christmas !!!!!
radu_reddogforever
Well, I will say some stories about Dinamo:

1) In the 1982-1983 season of the European Champions Cup (the UEFA Champions League nowadays) the winner was Hamburg. The next year we met them in the second round, and we beat them 3-0 at Bucharest. In Germany the score was 3-2 for them and we reached the quarter finals where we met Dinamo Minsk and we beat them with 2-1 on agregate. In the semifinal we played against the great Liverpool and the famous Ian Rush and we lost 0-1 in Liverpool and 1-2 in Bucharest.

2) In the 1989-1990 of the European Cup Winners Cup these were the games that Dinamo played:
First round: Dinamo Tirana 1 - 0 Dinamo BUCHAREST
Dinamo BUCHAREST 2 - 0 Dinamo Tirana
Second round: Panathiakos Athens 0 - 2 Dinamo BUCHAREST
Dinamo BUCHAREST 6 - 1 Panathiakos Athens
Quarter finals: Dinamo BUCHAREST 2 - 1 Partizan Belgrade
Partizan Belgrade 0 - 2 Dinamo BUCHAREST
Semifinals: Anderlecht Bruxelles 1 - 0 Dinamo BUCHAREST
Dinamo BUCHAREST 0 - 1 Anderlecht Bruxelles

3) Last season we beat Everton 5-1 in Bucharest and we beat 1-0 the holders of the Uefa Cup that time, CSKA Moscow. We had bad luck in the last game of the group against Olympique Marseille when we scored in the last second but the referee whistled the end of the game. You can see that horrible game here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qs2LK6KhKpA
That final goal was exactly what we needed to qualify in the last 32.
Anyway this things are just history are stories and we shall see what will happen in February. Hopefully we will qualify although you are better than us. But, the ball is round and don't forget that
NNslbNN
I just read that you guys lost an important striker...the top scorer of your champ what happend?

Iīm glad you ara feeling so confident...itīs always better that way...at least youīll have a happy xmas...please keep on dreaming.

it was a bomb waiting to explode. life is life. we have others, just as good.

i read one of your best striker is about to get suspended for doping. what is going on?
Mister
Benfica is favorite for this round, but with a good result at Lisabona we are sure that we'll qualify with the public's support.
Val_R
@Sezran: It depends on what game you are playing; for example, a few years ago, I used to play Pro Evolution Soccer(was and still is full of crap!) and the smart guys from Konami didn't have the money to buy the license from FifPro so they used dodgy names(here's an example: Gigsy instead of Giggs)
Anyway, back to the game! Some questions for our portuguese guests: Simao seems to be a transfer target for Atletico Madrid; how's the feeling there, what are the latest news? Apparently, Benfica is asking for 25 mil euros; is that right?
Your coach was complaining about having too many players at his disposal; does this necessarily mean that there won't be any other signings? What about players that would be leaving the club?

Well thatīs a long story...Nuno Assis was found with an illegal substance and suspended for 6 months on doping but, due to various procedural and analysis errors, the ban was reversed and his record cleaned few days before the ban expired.

Now Uefa took action and opened the process the decision is due in January, a good decision for us is if he only needs to complete the 6 months(i guess he has a couple of weaks in hand), but he could get a bigger ban the papers are talking about a 2 year suspension.

Today we have the last game before our winter break(our champ will stop until January the 15th)....S.L.Benfica-C.F.osBelenenses...

About Simão we are asking 20 million €...the feelling is that we wont sell until the end of the champ...

Probably there are going to be some players leaving on loan...players like Manu, Marco ferreira, Diego...there is a little doubt about Kikin Fonseca...

If Kikin goes than we have a striker in hand...

The papers are talking about another Mexican...Andres Guardado
NNslbNN
Last night we won our last match before xmas break 4-0...Goals by Simão(pen), Karagounis, Kikin Fonseca, Katsouranis.

7 games...7 victories...20 goals scored 3 conceded...in our stadium for the league.

HAPPY XMAS!
