I'm not so sure..... We saw Rapid against Feyenoord and Rapid played very defensive. Do you think that Dinamo will attack all the time.... I mean Heerenveen is a very attacking team too.....

you said that rapid is a team who defend well. we beat them 5-2, 4-0 at half time, and we didn't play our best in the second half, because we were preparing the game against avorton in liverpool. so, don't make plans like getting point or points here, because you will only get goals. i think 5. you know we have a song "cine vine-n groapa, fara 5 nu scapa!" , who's coming in groapa (that's the way we call our stadion) doesn't leave without 5 goals taken! so prepare for your nightmare.

I like it when fans are such fanatics...

. We are very friendly people and I hope that it will be a good match, for us 1 point would be enough. I predict that it will be tight.... Do not underestimate the power of our strikers.....

I did not say that Rapid defended well, they played defensively, on counter attack... Feyenoord managed to perform miserably, normally Feyenoord should have beaten Rapid, especially with their top class attack... (Kuyt, Kalou).... But all credits for Rapid, it was a good result for them....

Boy Waterman: 20 year old keeper - No experience at all, is a big talent, but the most of the fans prefer Brian Vandenbussche, our Belgian second keepr who made a good impression last season.

Defence:

Left defender:

Jeroen Drost: 18 year old international of Holland under 21. Fantastic mentality and a big talent. He has to learn a lot so these games are important for his progression.

Sometimes we play with Fernando Derveld, a huge defender with amazing strenght.

Right defender:

Last matches we played with Said Bakkati, young Moroccan defender, he is fast but he has not a good pass (I think)

Central Defence:

Petter Hansson : The Rock! He is our best defender. Swedish international.

Marcel Seip I don't think he adds much quality to the squad, but he can defend well.....

Midfield:

Daniel Pranjic : new player, bought from Dinamo Zagreb. Watch him...!!!
Paul Bosvelt: 35 y/o midfielder, played last season for Man City. The new leader of the yougsters. Good player.
Unfortunately Kissi can't play....
Arnold Bruggink is not always a starter, often substitute. Is one of the biggest players, but doesn't bring the goods....

Georgios Samaras Amazing prospect from Greece. Wanted by Arsenal and Sevilla. Great strengt and pace... 20 years old.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar 22 years old star striker. Every shot is a goal.....Keep him away of the goal....

Ugur Yildirim Famous right winger, famous because of his freekicks. Is now titleholder World Chamionship Free-Kick specialists....

Sometimes we play with NIlsson. He was injured, but is back. It's also one of the best players we have. Quick, technical and good stamina.

i heard about yildirim and i know he won the free kick championship last december, and huntelaar sounds familliar, and i know bruggink played in spain, mallorca i think, but let's face it, you are not a team who can resist in Bucharest. i told you before, you will get a lesson about football - speed, technical abillity, and tactics. you know, if it wasn't the first game you might had some chances...but in that situation you are victims. on the field , of course!

Of course George, you have home advantage....you play in your own stadium and you will have the support of your great supporters!

We won't bring more then 50/100 supporters with us, so thats an advantage.

I think you have a good team, but I also believe in ours, and that one has also a lot of potential! So I can repete it all day: be prepared for a surprise, it could be on your way....

We'll fight on the pitch and in the pub ( which supoorters can drink most beers).....

Voorstopper, welcome to our forum. As you could see from the other posts Rapid against Feyenoord is not a good reference since we butchered Rapid 5-2. The score could have been easily 9-0 if our boys didn't stop at half time to save themselves for the avortons and spare Rapid of a great shame.
Our game now is different. Neither of our teams need victory at a big difference since there's only one game. We obviously need 3 points and our hopes are that we are going to get them. I am pretty sure that Herenveen will try to do the same. Last game you folks played in Bucharest was a 0-3 against National. Given that we are hopeful that we will get at least 2-0 or 2-1, doesn't really matter.

That was a shameful performance, I know. They were not good, but we were even worse... There is a big difference between Heerenveen home and away, as you might have noticed hwen you look at the results. Last season we beat Stuttgart and Beveren at home, in the Chamions League we did beat Olympiakos at home and last week we thrashed Banik Ostrava 5-0! U are so lucky that U don't have to visit us, but you host us..... Away we are not consistent.... Sometimes we play wonderful, other times it's at a non-professional level.... but that's Heerenveen. This year I think we have a talented squad but they are not so consistent...

U are right if U say that you need 3 points, we don't have to get them. If you lose one of the games at home, U have no big chance of advancing....but keep an eye on our best players, they CAN make a difference....

Of course if we lose this one and win all three other, we will march on! But that's not so realistic... We should be happy with a draw I think, then we will draw against CSKA, we will win or draw against Marseille and we will beat Levski.... But I don't know if 6 points would be enough to advance....

But our team has proven to possess qualities, also at European level, so it 'll be tight.... I really do not hope that we are going to loose 3-0 or something, this would be funest for the players mental condition

that's right, no result in the past garantee you a victory in the future. but i think we play the game at home, we are in good form, we score a lot of goals, and you are 14th in your championship. so, i think we are favourites to this game. and you can't denny that.

Andone just played several matches for Heerenveen, it was early '90 yes..... We have better memories to Camataru, he was a very popular player at Heerenveen.....They always called him "Cammie"......

hehe, camataru once ran with 2 bulgarians on his back (literally climbing on him) and scored. it was a very nice 3-1 victory for us (romania) in sofia. (he scored twice)

Cammie is one of the most popular players in the history ouf our club. He was a great player and he is a fantastic person. Now he has his own business. The name of his company is ´Heerenveen´, he called it after our club.

Hundreds of years ago Friesland (at that time it was not yet Friesland) was under attack of the Vikings. The seven areas (I told about them in my last post) were in big danger, so they decided to work together (that was the start of Friesland and their flag) and fight against the vikings.

But of course is that not the reason why I choosed this name. It is because of all the players from Scandinavia who are playing (or have played) for our team.

In Holland we are well known about our talent scouts. Our chairman (Riemer van der Velde, he is chairman of Heerenveen since 1982, he saved is from bankruptcy in that year) buys a lot of players from Scandinavia. A few good players he bought in the last couple of years are Erik Edman (played last year voor Tottenham), Daniël Jensen (Werder Bremen), Marcus Allbäck (Aston Villa), Petter Hansson (still playing for Heerenveen), Mika Nurmela (Kaiserslautern), Mika Vayrynen (PSV) and Jon Dahl Tomasson (Newcastle, Feyenoord, Milan and now Stuttgart).

i didn't know tomasson was playing at heerenveen. i was just kidding with that, you didn't have tot take it seriously. i know your team because i bet, and i put ohten money on heerenveen. but this season you are not playing the best football, and we will try to take advantage of that.

I think they are also going to lose from Finland. In their home match against the Finnish team they almost lost the game, and I really hope (and think) that Finland are going to beat the Czech Republik :D .

I'm sorry guys, we are better than you.

I know that there are a couple of strong teams from Boekarest. Dinamo, Rapid, Steau and National. Further not really much.

I know a couple of old Romania players who played voor Heerenveen. Like Dorin Mitrita, Radu Gusatu and Florin Constantinovici. Mitrita was a succesfull player here, but he wanted a higher salary, our chairman didn't agree with that so he went back to Romania.

how come that everybody messes up that name...steau, shtoia, stiaua???? it must be something about this team. :D
